Fall Birds

Watch for these avian friends in our area in October:

yellow-bellied sapsucker, red-breasted nuthatch, brown creeper, winter wren, hermit thrush (swamp sparrow), cedar waxwings (cedar bird), yellow-rumped warbler (myrtle warbler), ruby-crowned kinglet, golden-crowned kinglet, orange-crowned warblers, white-troated sparrow, white-crowned sparrow, swamp sparrow, and song sparrows.

Names in parentheses are common names used in different locales.

Leaving us this fall:

chimney swift, wood thrush, red-eyed vireo, yellow throated vireo, parula warbler (beautiful), swainson's warbler, prothonotary warbler, hooded warbler, the lovely yellow breasted chat, summer tanager, indigo bunting, pewee, kingbird (bee martin), great crested flycatcher, ruby-throated hummingbird, nighthawk (bull bat), chuck-will's widow, and the yellow- billed cuckoo.
